The core technology of all IST products is thin-film deposition, in which a thin layer of metal is deposited onto a ceramic substrate. This technology allows for the production of extremely small sensors with enhanced operational capabilities such as improved response times, robustness, and packaging versatility. Our thin-film technology is 2nd to none for applications requiring long term stability and accuracy in wide temperature ranges. We apply our expertise in thin-film deposition to develop measurement solutions that are consistent and reliable.
IST AG has one of the best equipped front-end production lines for thin-film sensors, operating in clean rooms to class 1000. The fully automatic assembly technology ensures the highest quality product with an optimal price-performance ratio. Precise measuring instruments in our laboratories allow for the calibration of our products in the areas of temperature, humidity and flow.
Thin Film RTD Advantages
In comparing different types of temperature measurement technology, thin-film RTDs have a number of advantages over thermistors and wire-wound RTDs. Thermistors have a much smaller temperature range and tend to drift over time, whereas thin-film RTDs can operate in the harshest conditions while experiencing minimal drift. Wire wound RTDs can be susceptible to vibration and are expensive to produce while thin film RTDs are much more robust, more affordable, and offer more packaging options. When dealing with applications that require high accuracy in extreme conditions, IST-thin-film technology is the best option.
